Employment Type: Full-Time

Pay: $48,000 - $60,000

Bankruptcy Legal Assistant

The Bankruptcy Legal Assistant will assist the Bankruptcy & Restructuring Group. Experience is required in a broad range of areas including bankruptcy, asset recovery, loan workouts, small business foreclosures, collections, state court litigation, restructuring and liquidations matters.

Requirements of the Bankruptcy Legal Assistant: 
  • Must be well versed in bankruptcy, federal and state court procedures and filing requirements, including e-filing 
  • A minimum of four years of Commercial Bankruptcy experience within a law firm
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 suite of business software products, including Outlook, Word, Excel 
  • Working knowledge of Best Case bankruptcy software and document management software. 
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong time-management skills and ability to multi-task 
  • Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision 
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion.

Responsibilities of the Bankruptcy Legal Assistant:
  • Perform general administrative support functions as needed to meet deadlines and further the objectives of the bankruptcy practice group 
  • Update and manage attorney calendars with particular attention to court dates and other relevant case-related deadlines 
  • Draft routine court documents for attorney review and approval, including but not limited to pleadings and engagement letters 
  • Open new matters and close files as requested by attorneys 
  • Interact and communicate with courtroom deputies, judicial assistants, law clerks, and other courtroom staff in bankruptcy, state, and federal district courts 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
