Senior Medical Accountant

Boulo Solutions has a client in Birmingham, AL looking to hire a Senior Medical Accountant to join their team. If you have healthcare accounting experience, are familiar with Quickbooks, and want to jump into a smalller company that is growing rapidly, we would like to talk to you!

Benefits: $500 per month stipend towards various plans offered, 15 days PTO, short term disability, life insurance, dental, vision, cancer and long term insurance, 401k after 90 days and after a year will contribute dollar for dollar for first 4%.  

The Senior Medical Accountant, is responsible for managing and overseeing
the financial operations of our healthcare organization, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. Your expertise in healthcare finance and accounting principles will be crucial in ensuring accurate financial records and compliance with regulatory requirements. 

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls specific to the medical industry to promote efficient financial management.

2. Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.

3. Manage and lead the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets for the organization, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

4. Perform financial analysis and forecasting to support strategic decision-making and identify areas for improvement or cost-saving opportunities.

5. Monitor and analyze key financial metrics, such as revenue, expenses, and profitability, to assess the financial health of the organization and ensure adherence to budgetary targets.

6. Coordinate and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, such as medical coding and billing guidelines, Medicare/Medicaid regulations, and HIPAA.

7. Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, billing, and revenue cycle management, to streamline financial processes and resolve discrepancies.

8. Stay up to date with industry trends, changes in healthcare regulations, and accounting standards to ensure compliance and implement best practices.

9. Facilitate external audits and work closely with auditors to provide necessary documentation and address any audit findings or recommendations.

Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 2 years in a medical or healthcare setting.
3. In-depth knowledge of healthcare accounting principles, medical coding and billing practices, and regulations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products including Outlook, Quickbooks Online, Word, Excel, and Teams. Ability to use conventional office equipment (scanner, printer, copier, computer). Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving software.
