External Sales (Associate/Director)

San Francisco Bay Area, California

Privately-owned boutique asset manager with U.S. small/mid-cap equity mutual funds seeks experienced sales professional with hunter/cold caller mindset to be involved with sales/strategy/relationship management/marketing. 

In-office five days per week when not traveling to visit prospects (approximately every third week).

Responsibilities:
Conduct outreach (80+ cold calls/day; leads provided) to prospective clients (typically financial advisors), set up/attend meetings, build relationships, grow understanding of client needs to create and offer tailored solutions
Become proficient in and educate current/prospective clients on firm strategies
Knowledgeably/promptly answer client questions and address requests
Work toward exceeding daily/monthly sales quotas
Utilize Salesforce CRM to research/identify qualified prospective clients using firm resources including third party contact databases; log all call/meeting notes; maintain/update/provide research for firm use
Contribute to marketing/sales strategy; create sales plans for specific client types (Banks, Registered Investment Advisors, Wirehouses, Broker Dealers, etc.), and develop strategies for competitive differentiation
Keep abreast of current equity market and economic trends

Requirements:
1-5 years of recent sales experience with demonstrated track record of success absolutely required; experience selling mutual funds/SMAs/investment products a plus but not required
Bachelor’s degree required; Finance/Economics/Business a plus; CFA/CIMA/CAIA/CFP a plus
Proficiency with Salesforce CRM system
Ability to understand/discuss sophisticated equity investment strategies with prospective clients
Strong work ethic; entrepreneurial/self-driven; passionate about sales; willingness to travel one out of every two to three weeks (upwards of 60% domestic travel); team player/collaborative; excellent interpersonal and presentation skills; able to work independently; high level of personal integrity
