Pediatrician (Locum)

POSITION:  Eastern Health is accepting expressions of interest for a locum Pediatrician..

The Pediatric Department is comprised of a total of two full-time General Pediatricians who are accountable for the provision of comprehensive health care services to patients receiving care. The locum will provide inpatient and outpatient duties and participate in on-call services.

LOCATION: Carbonear General Hospital is situated in the town of Carbonear. Carbonear is a beautiful rural town about 100 kilometers outside of St. John’s. The Carbonear General Hospital serves the rural Avalon region of Eastern Health, a catchment area of greater than 45,000 people, whose geography encompasses a portion of the Avalon Peninsula.  There are many amenities in the area, including hiking and biking trails, restaurants, local theatre, and shopping.

Carbonear Hospital is a 70 acute care bed facility with a 6 bed ICU. Carbonear General Hospital offers a full range of services including ambulatory care, diagnostic services, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Obs/Gyn, Psychiatry, and Pediatrics supported by a strong network of allied health professionals.  Carbonear General Hospital’s services include acute in-patient care, chronic disease management, palliative care, respite care, prenatal care, emergency care/patient stabilization and transfer, operating room assist, and general practice oncology.

Qualifications:          

To be considered candidates must hold a medical degree and have certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) in Pediatrics (may have subspecialty training).  All applicants must be eligible for licensure to practice as the most responsible physician (MRP) by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week plus on-call obligations

Remuneration:          

Remuneration will be in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association (NLMA) and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
