Labrador-Grenfell Health provides medical services to nearly 40,000 people spread over more than 300,000 sq Km from the Lower North Shore of Quebec, through the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland to all the Labrador.  For more than a century the hospital in St Anthony at the northernmost tip of Newfoundland has been a center of excellence in providing surgical care to the people of this vast region. http://www.grenfell-properties.com/

The Charles S. Curtis Memorial hospital provides well-equipped operating rooms, abundant operating time, excellent Anesthesia services, state-of-the-art endoscopy facilities, ICU, a 64 slice CT scanner, digital radiology, friendly, dedicated, and highly skilled nurses, allied health professionals, and delightful patients.  There is a well-staffed Family Medicine Department, and specialists in Obstetrics/Gynecology, Orthopedics, ENT, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Pathology.  The full-service radiology Department in St John’s, the only tertiary care center in the province, provides a rapid and reliable teleradiology service.  Because we are situated 1100 Km from the nearest referral center and patients are often reluctant to travel there, we do more interesting cases here than do most other small hospitals in the country.

Ours is a rugged and breathtakingly beautiful part of the world where opportunities for outdoor adventure abound.  Wildlife includes moose, caribou, fox, coyote, whale, seal, and polar bears, and the region is home to some of the world’s most famous salmon rivers. The summers are sunny and moderately warm but locals regard winter as the best time of the year with skiing, hockey, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing and visiting some of the most popular activities. POSITION: We are currently seeking the services of a permanent, salaried General Obstetrician/Gynecologist at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, NL.

DUTIES:

• Running Obstetrics and Gynecology Out-Patient Clinic
• Responsible for Inpatient Care
• Tele-health
• General Obstetrical and Gynecological Surgical Procedures
• Coverage of on-call commitments for Obstetrics and Gynecology, including weekends and holidays; calls will be shared equitably.
• The successful candidate will work as a part of a team of physicians and nurses to provide the required services identified above.
• The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS:      

• Canadian certified in OB/GYN (FRCPC & LMCC) OR  Full license to practice in another Canadian Province

• OR Royal College of Canada eligibility via either the Approved Jurisdiction Route OR the PER Route 

• MCCQE1 exam OR a complete set of USMLE's

• Eligible for registration and license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador;

• Or your training and certification is from an approved jurisdiction. Approved jurisdictions: Australia, United Kingdom, United States, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong and Switzerland. 

REMUNERATION: $220, 147 - $262, 714 (Remuneration will be in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador)
