Physiatrist (BH-389)

Fredericton, New Brunswick

Permanent

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Our client in Fredericton is looking for permanent, full-time Physiatrists, including those with a special interest in paediatric rehabilitation. The centre provides interdisciplinary assessment and care across all ages through inpatient, outpatient and outreach services, for persons with neurologic injury or conditions. This centre is currently the only facility in New Brunswick to offer Paediatric Physiatry services. We are actively recruiting to fill current and upcoming positions, including two positions with the tertiary neuromotor pediatric team. Pediatric experience is preferred but not mandatory as on-the-job mentoring can occur under our 2 current physicians to develop their career as a Paediatric Physiatrist.

For our pediatric physiatrists, the successful candidate(s) would run a predominantly out-patient service in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team but would manage the rehabilitation needs of pediatric in-patients as needed. For adult physiatry, this position includes responsibilities for inpatients and outpatients working with interdisciplinary teams and in dedicated clinics. The department is affiliated with Dalhousie University, Memorial University of Newfoundland, and the University of New Brunswick, facilitating academic appointments. The successful candidate will participate in neurological rehabilitation as well as clinical teaching of medical students and residents. Research activity is encouraged and supported, and the SCCR has a robust interdisciplinary research program.

REMUNERATION:

Alternative Funding Plan (AFP)

Compensation will be based on an Alternate Funding Plan which allows incorporation (if desired). Support for continuing education leave and vacation are provided.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The successful applicant must be eligible for certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada. In circumstances where no qualified Canadian trained applicants are available, equivalent certification may be considered as long as they qualify for licensure in the Province of New Brunswick.

  • The candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.
