General Internist- Carbonear, Newfoundland
Eastern Health is accepting expressions of interest for a full-time General Internist. The successful applicant will be based at Carbonear General Hospital, Carbonear, NL. This position will commence as soon as possible.
Carbonear General Hospital is situated in the town of Carbonear. Carbonear is a beautiful rural town about 100 kilometers outside of St. John’s. The Hospital services around 50,000 people in the Rural Avalon Region. There are many amenities in the area, such as hiking and biking trails, restaurants, local theatre and shopping.
Carbonear Hospital has 80 acute care bed with a 6 bed ICU. Specialty Services include; Anesthesia, General Surgery, Obstetrical/Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, ENT, Family Medicine and 24-hour Emergency coverage. Further supportive services include, 24-hour diagnostic imaging and laboratory services, respiratory therapy, Chemotherapy, ICU/Cardiac and Palliative Care. There are visiting services for ophthalmology and urology.
The Carbonear Internal Medicine department is comprised of a total of four full-time Internists. The general accountabilities of the position are to provide clinical services, treatments and therapies within the scope of the general internist. This includes providing inpatient and office based general medicine consultation service, follow up visits, ongoing patient care and outpatient ambulatory services. Other services are available, including, Endoscopy, Bronchoscopy, sleep studies, pulmonary function testing and stress testing depending on the applicants qualifications and clinical practice interests. Hospital inpatients services including intensive care and participation in the call schedule is required.
Remuneration
Requirements:
Eligible for registration and licensure as an Internal Medicine Specialist with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland (CPSNL)
Specialist training in Internal Medicine
Royal College of Canada Certification or eligibility
MCCQE1 exam OR a complete set of USMLE’s
Or your training and certification is from an approved jurisdiction. Approved jurisdictions: Australia, United Kingdom, United States, New Zealand, Ireland,South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong and Switzerland.
