School Psychologist Position Details:
• Start Date: ASAP
• Hours: Full-Time (35 hours per week)
• Contract Duration: Full School Year
• Location: Massachusetts
School Psychologist Requirements:
- School psychologists often complete a bachelor's degree in psychology, education, or a related field, and a master's in school psychology or educational psychological development.
- School psychologists need a state license or, in the states that consider it the equivalent of licensure, Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) certification from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). Requirements vary by state. However, some states have or are considering license reciprocity.
School Psychologist Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychological tests and evaluations
- Support each student's IEP by working with a multidisciplinary team
- Teach pro-social behaviors to students within the school environment
- Counsel students individually or in groups
- Develop intervention plans for teaching staff
- Meet with parents
- Facilities workshops and training for parents and teachers
- Acts as a liaison to the community
- Facilitates peer mediation sessions
- Offers grief or emergency counseling services
