Chamberlain Advisors is conducting a search for a Director of Operations who will establish and oversee operations for a security guard services company in the DC/MD/VA market. This is an exciting opportunity for an operations leader with an entrepreneurial spirit, eager to build and grow a branch of a scaling organization through operational excellence.

Core Profile: Alignment with the following is required to get you in the conversation. 
  • Operations Leadership. The candidate must have extensive experience leading operations in the security services or relevant industry, with a proven track record of implementing scheduling practices to prevent issues and conflicts, emphasizing upfront planning, and adherence to compliance standards. Their experience should reflect a proactive approach to driving continuous improvement initiatives, with a history of identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and client satisfaction.
  • Business Development/DMV Network. The ideal candidate must possess a deep understanding of the local market and have existing relationships within the area. They should have a proven track record in local business development, including expanding networks and bringing in new clients. The candidate should be adept at developing strategies to drive organic growth with existing clients while actively seeking out and nurturing leads to expand the company's presence in the DMV area.
  • Customer Relations. Candidate will be the local face of the company and must have experience managing customer issues and obtaining feedback, ensuring satisfaction through proactive follow-up. They must possess strong communication and problem-solving skills to address concerns promptly.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit. The ideal candidate should have a strong desire to build, grow, and own the outcomes of a company’s success. Success in this autonomous role requires being a self-starter, capable of achieving results and thriving in an environment where direct supervision and daily feedback may be limited.
  • P&L Knowledge. Candidates should demonstrate P&L knowledge, with an understanding of the financial levers involved. While direct experience in owning P&L is not mandatory, candidates should be familiar with elements such as managing overtime costs and implementing strategic billing increases when necessary.
  • Decentralized Workforce Leadership. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated experience driving company culture and building rapport with field team members in a decentralized environment.
What You Will Be Accountable For:

Operations Leadership:
  • Establish the company's presence in the DMV region by overseeing operations of current contracts and transitioning subcontracted work to the company's personnel.
  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership for all operational aspects of security services in DMV, including setting goals, developing strategies, and overseeing day-to-day operations.
  • Oversee the deployment of security personnel and resources to ensure efficient service delivery, which includes ensuring proper scheduling upfront, ensuring all officers show up on time, and on-site issues with clients.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and client satisfaction. This involves identifying areas for improvement, implementing best practices, and monitoring performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and procedures, such as staying up-to-date on licensing requirements, documentation, and processes to maintain compliance, including any applicable state/locality requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team. Directly supervise the field supervisors and guards, ensuring proper oversight. This involves conducting regular meetings, providing feedback, and supporting professional development.
  • Act as a problem-solving coordinator and assist with investigations of complaints, including identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring resolution.
  • Reduce employee turnover by implementing retention strategies and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Support P&L, including budgeting and cost management.

Business Development:
 
  • Support strategic planning for expansion across the region and supporting customer growth.
  • Partner with sales to support the RFP process and enhance operational credibility, including providing operational insights, attending meetings or events as needed, and ensuring accurate responses to client inquiries.
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities for growth within the region, leveraging existing connections and cultivating new ones.

What Qualifications You Need: 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military experience is preferred.
  • 5-10+ years of leadership experience in security services or relevant industry.
  • 3+ years of proven supervisory experience in a remote/decentralized environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully implementing scheduling practices and ensuring compliance standards.
  • Understanding of P&L responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in utilizing ERP, payroll, and daily reporting systems
  • Understanding of local security licensing requirements
