Summary
Designs a complete AV solution that fulfills the use requirements for our customers. The solution will specify system capabilities as well as limitations. The AV System Designer supports the Sales team throughout the quoting process and provides final design details/guidance to the Field Coordinator for proper, relevant drawings and then briefs an appropriate project handoff system overview to the assigned team Project Manager.

What You Will Be Accountable For
  • Assist the salesperson in constructing a preliminary Statement of Functionality (SOF) noting system capabilities and limitations based on customer’s stated objectives.
  • Develop and provide sales with a complete bill of materials (and narrative BOD) based on the agreed SOF. This BOD will include components, hardware, and prefabricated cables to complete the system. An estimated installation hardware cost will also be included. Projects are estimated when quoted, and fully engineered upon award.
  • Create a rough system flow diagram based on the BOD, share with Field Coordinator.
  • Complete a labor estimator based on site conditions and scope of work.
  • Once project is won, AV Design Engineer will approve the rough signal flow diagram and release to the Field Coordinator for construction drawings.
  • Develop a Technical Scope of Work that will be used internally facing for our field operations teams.
  • Reviews the SOF and BOD with PM for post award processing.
  • Coordinates documentation for any changes to the BOD based on site conditions and follow-up conversations with PM.
  • Meet with vendors/prospective vendors to help evaluate product if requested.
  • Assist other departments with technical support issues as needed.
What Qualifications You Need
  • 2-4+ years of experience in AV
  • Experience with D-Tools or similar software
  • Experience with Q-SYS or similar tool (Crestron, Control4)
  • Background designing digital signage, conference room systems, LED signage/technology, video walls, and/or similar.
  • Strong customer/client focus; desire to fulfill customer needs to the fullest extent and support their understanding of products available to them
  • Experience with MS Office Suite
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; meshes well with other team members and communicates effectively and thoughtfully with customers
  • Certifications nice to have, not required (AVIXA or similar)
