Chamberlain Advisors is currently conducting an executive search for a Staff Accountant for their direct client. As a key partner to the Controller the Staff Accountant will be responsible for providing accounting knowledge, gathering accounting information into the accounting system, confident with AP/AR, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This position will perform general accounting functions, inventory management, financial statement analysis, partner with the Controller in the financial close process, and liaise in outside audits to comply with generally accepted accounting principles. In addition, the Staff Accountant will work closely with internal senior leadership to ensure appropriate and consistent financial reporting and controls across all of the client’s operations. You must be a hands-on, roll up your sleeves type of accountant and should enjoy a fast-paced environment. This role reports to the Controller.

Accounting Acumen & Confidence – Must have a strong aptitude for working with numbers, combined with knowledge of GAAP accounting standards. Demonstrated understanding of the interrelationships between various account transaction types and can quickly understand, assess, and resolve a wide variety of General Ledger (GL) accounting problems. Understand how GL accounts flow into monthly financial statements and coordinate with the Controller on all month end close deliverables for the company. Support and assist the Controller during the audit process.

What you will be accountable for accomplishing:
  • Review and maintain general ledger activity. Reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Research of non-routine accounting issues and post adjusting entries as needed
  • Accounting duties as it relates to monthly / quarterly / annual month end close tasks
  • Provide support and guidance to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & Purchasing staff for coding accuracies, discrepancies, or issues and maintain proper documentation 
  • Experience with Grants/Fund accounting preferred but not required
  • Implement accounting processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness. Propose changes to company practices to streamline and optimize throughout company workflows
  • Assist with various accounting projects for a fast-growing company such as ERP system implementations, compliance, accounting policies, audit requests, documenting procedures, internal controls and automate manual processes where possible
  • Support to ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process
  • Provide requested documents for financial statement, internal, regulatory, or third-party audits

What you will need:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field / equivalent experience.
  • At least 1 - 3 years of advancing experience is required
  • Previous Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable experience
  • Working knowledge and comprehension of full cycle accounting processes 
  • Confidence with the general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Working knowledge of financial statements and reports (P&L, B/S, Statement of Cash Flows)
  • Construction or Telecommunications related field is preferred but not required
  • Experience working in both a start-up environment and a mature corporate environment is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and project accounting principles
  • MS Dynamics, MS Business Central, Oracle NetSuite/Peoplesoft, Sage, QuickBooks, and implementation experience is a plus
  • Intermediate to Advanced level in Excel (pivot tables, vlookup’s, sumifs), Microsoft Office programs, and other ERP systems 
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills with keen attention to detail; able to interpret complex financial data
  • Flexibility in handling multiple tasks, prioritize to meet deadlines while delivering high-quality results
  • Excel in a fast-paced startup environment, balancing multiple projects concurrently and independently
  • Agile, adaptable, flexible, and thrives in a dynamic and changing culture environment
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and projects and to multi-task within restricted time constraints
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels
  • Confidentiality and integrity regarding sensitive client, company, and personnel matters, including but not limited to financial data, contracts, competition information, M&A, and employee salaries
