Consilio’s longstanding client, a prominent municipality in the Atlanta Metro Area, is currently seeking an experienced attorney for its Operations Division. The attorney will act as a key strategic advisor to the municipality’s Department of Transportation and its Department of Public Works, serving as the liaison between these departments and the Department of Law, and elevating certain matters as necessary to the attention of the City Attorney. The attorney will also assist with delivery of legal advice to the municipality’s City Council on legislation concerning various departmental initiatives. This is a flexible hybrid position that involves three days per week in the office and two days remote. The candidate will begin as a contract employee and, following the successful completion of an introductory period, become a permanent employee of the municipality.

Essential Functions

Provide comprehensive legal services to the Departments of Transportation and Public Works
Draft and analyze ordinances, resolutions, and amendments; draft legislative updates regarding newly enacted state laws and opinions; monitor pending legislation
Prepare legal opinions on questions of law and procedure
Review, analyze, revise, and approve contracts and other legal instruments

Minimum Qualifications
Juris Doctorate degree required. Must be a member of good standing with the State Bar of Georgia or have the ability to obtain membership within one (1) year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in municipal, county, and/or constitutional law
Knowledge of federal, state and/or local transit rules and regulations
Knowledge of transportation planning and public contracting
