Consilio’s client, a major municipality in the metro Atlanta area with whom we have a longstanding relationship, is looking to hire a Senior Attorney who will support Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)—the busiest passenger airport in the world—in a variety of sophisticated legal matters. The position requires substantial general legal experience working on a wide range of commercial advice and counsel issues. The candidate placed in this role is expected to encounter real estate, contracts, construction, finance, procurement of goods and services, FOIA/open records requests, tax, federal regulatory and local legislative matters.

The role involves extensive contact with all levels of Airport management, multiple city departments, and the governing bodies of other municipalities and airports. Experience with airport law matters, tax matters, intergovernmental agreements and regulatory compliance is preferred, but not required. Applicants with prior experience representing an airport, municipality, other governmental/quasi-governmental entity, or applicants in the transportation industry are strongly encouraged to apply.

This is a flexible hybrid position that involves three days per week in the office and two days remote.  The candidate will begin as a contract employee and, following the successful completion of an introductory period, become a permanent employee of the municipality.

Required Qualifications
  • Juris Doctorate degree and active bar license required. Attorneys licensed outside Georgia must have to ability to obtain Georgia Bar membership within 12 months of starting this role.
  • At least five years of post-graduate legal experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in municipal, county, constitutional, and/or aviation law.
