Job Title - Financial Controller

Job Summary
As the Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards, managing a small team, and navigating a high-volume, manual workflow environment. This is a hands-on role that requires adaptability, quick decision-making, and the ability to pivot at a moment's notice to meet the ever-changing needs of our clients. The successful candidate will provide team oversight, manage month-end close processes, cash management, budgeting & forecasting, accruals, operational workflows impacting our back office, converting from accrual to cash for reporting to required agencies, performing cross-company allocations, handling ad hoc requests from business partners, conducting revenue analysis, optimizing cash, providing guidance on appropriate financial and operational approaches in collaboration with firm leadership. Must showcase success and experience in leading a financial and operational team from the 10 to 50-million-dollar revenue band.

Job Responsibilities
  • Oversees processing of payroll transactions for accuracy and timely processing of payroll updates, monitors compliance and policy and procedures.
  • Manages accounts payable/receivable/collection operations, activities, resources, with established policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork within the Operations team.
  • Oversee the month-end closing process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of financial reporting.
  • Implement and manage cash flow strategies to optimize working capital to meet operational needs.
  • Manage and maintain accrual accounting processes to accurately reflect financial obligations.
  • Ensure the company's financial practices align with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant regulatory standards to manage and stabilize data.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve operational workflows to enhance efficiency and scalability in a high-volume, manual workflow environment.
  • Prepare and oversee the conversion of financial statements from accrual to cash basis for reporting to required agencies.
  • Prepare and file accurate and timely tax returns, including local and state B&O taxes and other relevant taxes. Consult with external consultants when necessary.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience supporting multi-state payroll and corresponding accounting and tax implications.
  • Experience working in a high-volume and manual workflow environment.
  • Experience in balancing data-driven activities while also providing a high-level strategic perspective.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, collaboration, and partnership skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and priorities.
  • Previous experience in the staffing or HR services industry is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success and experience in leading a financial team in the $10-50 million revenue range.

Employment Type: Full-time
Compensation & Benefits: The starting pay for this position is between USD $130,000.00 and $150,000.00. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include a wide array of things including: your specific skills and experience or other relevant factors. Hansell Tierney also provides well-being programs including medical, dental and vision benefits, 401(k) plan contribution, and generous paid time-off.
