Title:  Controls Engineer

Location:  Rochester, NY

Pay:  $85,000-$100,000 Base – 10% Bonus Target – Relocation Assistance

Schedule:  Days Monday – Friday Typically 7am-3:30pm with some flexibility

Job Description:

  • Experience specifying and sizing control valves, dampers, and other final control elements.
  • Familiarity with modern network technologies, media, and equipment, including both copper and fiber media.
  • Experience with Emerson Ovation or other plant automation controls.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley programmable logic controllers.
  • Execute modifications, perform upgrades, and troubleshoot existing control systems.
  • Design, manage, execute and commission new control system projects
  • Identify and implement control system improvement projects to drive continuous improvement in the company operations.
  • Provide control system input and support during the design and implementation of other capital projects.
  • Provides support for the Ovation Distributed Control Systems and the Steam, Power, Chilled Water, Water Systems, and Treatment Plant.
  • Provides support for the ABB MOD 3000 Distributed Control System and the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
  • Provide support for Allen-Bradley PLC programming and logic changes.
  • Provide technical support the meter maintenance team.
  • Provide support for the OSISoft PI plant-wide data historian.
  • Knowledge of industrial utility equipment and systems including boilers, turbines, generators, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, air compressors, water systems, and water treatment.
  • Knowledge of typical industrial boiler, chiller, turbine generator, and air compressor control systems, including combustion controls and burner management systems.
  • Experience specifying industrial flow, pressure, temperature, and analytical measurement equipment.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to determine control system project scope and cost.
  • Responsible for the security and compliance to government and environmental regulations.
  • Responsible for the compliance to the company’s control system design and implementation standards to ensure consistent control system operations.
  • Maintain control System network documentation and disaster recovery (DR) procedures.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, UL, OSHA, ISA, NEMA, IEC, ANSI and other applicable codes and standards as they pertain to the design and installation of industrial control panels and controls systems.
  • Knowledge and experience developing, implementing, and tuning P&ID control strategies
  • Familiarity with the Windows operating system, Office programs, and Windows PC’s
  • Proficiency using technical manuals, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, ladder logic, functional control diagrams, etc.
