Title:  Health & Safety Manager

Location:  Bakersfield, CA

Pay:  $100,000-$120,000 Base – 20% Bonus – Relocation Assistance – 4 Weeks of PTO

Schedule:  Monday – Friday 7am-3:30pm Onsite

This position is stationed on a stable group of energy plants in affordable and temperate Bakersfield, CA.  Our client is a diversified owner/operator power company that is actively expanding their portfolio in the area and across the United States. In this role you will have the chance to work with many different stakeholders including plant Operations & Maintenance personnel, Plant Managers, Environmental Managers, and other fleet wide safety leaders. Candidates with various industrial plant backgrounds will be considered and the role will feature primarily field leadership work as well as back office reporting and compliance as well.

Job Description:

  • Collaborates with site management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for site incident notification, investigation, and case management.
  • Assist with conducting accident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive strategies and handle worker’s compensation claims
  • Understanding of OSHA and safe work permitting requirements and compliance.
  • Identify all required safety training requirements and develop training calendar
  • Ensure safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible
  • Develop and foster strong working relationships with all functional units of organization.
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics
  • Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
  • Implements Safety Management Systems.
  • Prepares and monitors employee safety training.
  • Performs record keeping and ensures compliance with Company Policies and State and Federal safety regulations.
  • Consults with and supports activities of Site Safety Committee.
  • Oversees incident/ accident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Conducts periodic inspections including air and noise monitoring.
  • Administers the Personal Protective Equipment programs including safety eyeglass, safety shoe, respirator, and hearing protection programs.
  • Assist with administration of worker’s compensation claims and return to work programs.
  • May assist with administration of security aspects of facility including contracted guard service.
  • Maintain professional development.
  • Basic understanding of workers’ compensation claims process
  • Develop strategic direction for health and safety initiatives that mitigate associated risks
  • Identify, develop, and implement health and safety initiatives
  • Conduct risk assessments for the development of a risk mitigation strategy
