Title: 2nd Engineer

Location: Boston, MA

Pay: $60 - $63/hour plus OT - Total comp $180,000 - $200,000+

Schedule: 8 hour Shift with OT if desired - 2nd Shift 1pm-9pm or 3rd Shift 9pm-5am.

Job Description: 
  • Plan and coordinates plant maintenance as required to maximize plant availability and optimize cost effectiveness.
  • Prepares accurate plant documentation, to assure that proper historical records and reporting of plant operation and maintenance is done.
  • Participates in planned day operator shift coverage.
  • Formulate and executes projects assigned by management.
  • Promotes and works with others in a team environment.
  • Coordinates plant production in accordance with contracts.
  • Communicates verbally and in writing to customers, suppliers, and operators to ensure optimum resource utilization.
  • Administers shift schedules, housekeeping assignments, and operations routines.
  • Assists with operations/maintenance training and qualification programs.
  • Must make expeditious appropriate decision to non-routine plant operating situations.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Other skills required include knowledge of computer systems and software, and the ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
  • Provides coverage and shares on call duty with the Operations Manager.
  • Performs inspections, water analysis and troubleshooting, to optimize plant performance.
  • Demonstrates full knowledge and proficiency in the operation and maintenance of a combined-cycle combustion turbine generating station, including balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills.
  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment.
  • Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required.
  • Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
  • Requires operation of a personal computer.
  • 2nd Class or 1st Class MA Engineers license
  • 7+ years of boiler/power plant operations experience preferred
