Staff Accountant

Dallas, Texas

Direct Hire

Staff Accountant - $70-$75k + 10-20% bonus

Hybrid Schedule: 3 days in office, 2 at home 
Location: Plano, TX

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare accurate and timely journal entries to meet accounting close schedules.
  2. Analyze intricate transactions, such as home/land inventory budget updates, contingencies evaluation, and joint land development arrangements, proposing necessary adjusting journal entries.
  3. Conduct monthly balance sheet account reconciliations with precise support for key financial statement areas, including cash, work-in-process, or development-in-process inventory, and deposits.
  4. Assist in the preparation of internal financial reports.
  5. Process vendor invoices and payments accurately and within specified timelines.
  6. Coordinate with vendors to obtain necessary documentation for vendor setup, ensuring data integrity and preventing cyber fraud.
  7. Respond to ad hoc information requests from builder/land management teams.
  8. Assist with internal and external audits.
  9. Lead and contribute to automation efforts, particularly projects directly related to job responsibilities.
  10. Effectively manage and prioritize work to meet multiple processing and reporting deadlines related to vendor payments, accounting close, external financial reporting, and internal management reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Authority/Budget/Decision Making/Discretion and Independent Judgment Ability:

    • Exercise independent judgment to prioritize work effectively, analyze complex financial reports, transactions, and processes, and identify and resolve issues to ensure accurate financial statements.
  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to stand, walk, sit, kneel, bend, use hands, reach, talk, and hear.
    • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.

Location: Plano Corporate Office

Education:

  • BS degree in Accounting/Finance

Experience:

  • 1+ year experience in accounting

Competencies:

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with management.
