Substation Physical Designer - Knoxville, TN

RCS Corporation has an immediate need for a Substation Physical Designer in Knoxville, TN. This is a Full-time, Direct Hire, Hybrid assignment with our client.

Overview of YOUR role as a Substation Physical Designer:
The Substation Physical Designer will work closely with design engineering as a valued member of the Substation Physical Design Team. In this role, the successful candidate will gain and apply knowledge of latest power substation technology and operational practices.

 As a Substation Physical Designer YOU will:

  • Develop physical design solutions for the construction of power substations
  • Collaborate with Designers and Engineers through all phases of the design process to produce high-quality, constructible design packages for each scope of work.
  • This individual will also contribute by advising and assisting less experienced personnel.

 YOU are the ideal Substation Physical Designer if you have:
  • 2-6 years of experience in Substation Physical Design or related design field
  • CAD Experience – MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of drafting principles
  • Associates Degree (2yr) or equivalent in applicable field

It’s a BONUS if you have:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Team Player: Works well as a member of a team.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Occasional travel
  • Ability to interpret written/documented specifications and apply them to engineering design.

  • Work Conditions: Stairs, typing/keyboard, standard and/or sitting working environment of >8 hrs./day. 
  • Travel required: up to <5%
