Summary
Responsible for leading the company Supply & Marketing organization in the development, implementation, operation, and nurturing of the ethics and compliance program and culture. Also responsible for surveillance and monitoring commercial teams on ethics and compliance initiatives, activities and transactions consistent with our policies regarding supply and trading activities and the company values. Understand and support all related internal and external trading policies and regulations to help embed company ethics and compliant culture in all trading operations.

Job Duties

  1. Provide leadership and consultation to the development of the commercial ethics and compliance program and help to continuously improve program for the supply and marketing trading business. Oversee front office execution and challenge appropriately on ethics and compliance related decisions.
  2. Monitor reporting, escalation, and timely mitigation of issues, deficiencies, or regulatory matters regarding ethics and compliance risk management.
  3. In collaboration with the Commercial Ethics and Compliance Manager conduct compliance risk assessments and monitoring of daily trading activity, strategies and business communications to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations enacted by external regulatory authorities and company's internal policies.
  4. Apply knowledge of existing laws, rules and regulations impacting the trading business while supervising for developments, proposals, and new regulatory requirements to assess potential impacts and participate in the implementation of systems, processes, and procedures to meet these requirements.
  5. Lead commercial team meetings in order to help the trading organization understand ethics and compliance strategies, policies, and regulatory laws to help facilitate continuous improvement of a robust ethical and compliant culture.
  6. Professionally challenge appropriately on ethics and compliance related decisions.
  7. Project manage cross-regional ethics and compliance projects and participate in cross-functional projects and working groups. Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control developments.
  8. Advise on the appropriate metrics (e.g., a dashboards) and develop and distribute reports to assist the organization in managing its ethics and compliance risks.
  9. Constantly identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control developments.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications:
Degree:
  • College Degree (Bachelors Level).
The minimum number of years of job related experience required by this job is:
  • 10 years.
List any specialized training or unique skills required:
  • Experience establishing new policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Experience supporting ethics and compliance program elements (e.g., policies, procedures, metrics, reporting, training, etc.) for an effective program.
  • Experience deploying new initiatives.
  • Knowledge of industry ethics and compliance best practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of traded commodities (especially. crude, refined products, and financial products), markets, and strategies.
  • Knowledge of regulations that governs commercial trading.
  • Ability to create trust and rapport with the commercial team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work creatively to achieve identified goals.
  • Problem-solving skills with ability to see the next step and follow through on operational detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to challenge the status-quo and speak up when necessary.
