Director of Operations

Texas based Digitally Native Jewelry brand is looking for a Director of Operations. This person will be influential in taking the company to the next level, creating the vision and charting the operational plan to support continued growth. The candidate must have the ability to envision and act to build the structure, technical capability, systems, strategy, partnerships and people to drive its growth path. The Director of Operations will have complete functional responsibility for the supply chain and operations including supply chain strategy, sourcing/procurement, manufacturing, distribution/transportation/logistics, planning, forecasting, quality, engineering and business analytics. They also must have an "all-hands-on-deck" mentality—

Production
  • Act as main point of contact for contract manufacturers and communicate with suppliers and vendors.
  • Procure all components necessary for production and ensure on time delivery.
  • Create and submit Purchase Orders to produce finished goods.
  • Manage Production Orders to ensure on time completion.
  • Reconcile production runs (collect & store documentation, confirm quantities, calculate yield)
Inventory Management
  • Track and report inventory by location in systems (e.g., PIRO and Excel)
  • Establish and maintain reorder / stockout SOP.
  • Restock inventory locations, as outlined in SOP.
  • Provide accurate inventory reports and analysis.
  • Produce statistical reports, complete a physical inventory, and perform cycle counts as required.
  • Maintain reliable sources of ingredients and other material inputs, track purchasing.
Warehouse Management
  • Responsible for procurement, supply chain, maintenance, packaging, and warehousing
  • Comply with set budgets for product inventory and packaging programs.
  • Develop and implement procedures to ensure quality control, production, and staff efficiencies.
  • Oversee all warehouse procedures, including inventory and shipping operations.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve and implement procedures to ensure consistent operation effectiveness.
  • Keep accurate documentation of all inventory and supplies needed for production.
Administrative & Process Development
  • Perform regular COGS optimization and analysis.
  • Research and source suppliers, ingredients, and resources
  • Document & optimize processes for all tasks that are in scope.
  • COGS reduction in target areas (e.g. ingredients, freight, chargebacks)
  • Evaluation of partner performance (packaging, freight)
  • Establish & track KPIs.
  • Operational & supply chain risk assessment
  • Supply chain redundancy (multiple partners, to hedge against risk)
  • Identify opportunities for process automation & use of technology.
  • Negotiate contracts, shipping, contract manufacturing, etc.
  • Responsible for managing, training, motivating, and disciplining all team members
Management Strategy
  • Develop the strategic vision to achieve best practice supply chain and operations performance. Clearly communicate that vision, translate it into practicable, tactical actions and effectively deploy the vision.
  • Oversee all aspects of operations, including procurement, production, planning, logistics and fulfillment
  • Review cash flow and statements/reports; utilize financial data to improve profitability and increase efficiency. Plan effective strategies for the financial well-being of the company.
  • Maintain optimum levels of inventory to ensure best-in-class product availability, quality, cost and efficiency while maintaining a lean just-in-time supply chain
  • Build strong partnerships and establish credibility with internal teams, commanding respect based upon demonstrated leadership skills and functional excellence.
  • Introduce greater visibility to results inclusive of KPIs and broader supply chain analytics to measure performance against commitments and actively use results to redirect resources as required.
  • Partner with founder in leading implementation of process and technology improvements including cost, quality and safety recommendations for changes and/or improvements
  • Actively participate as a key member of the leadership team to help drive the Company’s growth strategy. This includes identifying opportunities to improve information, organization and processes to improve the company’s bottom line.
  • Proactively manage production and inventory to reduce cycle times, optimize inventory levels and planning to meet client demands while reducing capital costs.
Requirements
  • Jewely experience required
  • A highly successful track record, ideally accompanied by success in the jewelry industry and in a smaller, rapidly growing organization.
  • Have a demonstrated track record of success in architecting processes to support growth and performance improvement in a lean environment.
  • Proven experience in creating transparency using KPIs in a measurable way to achieve a specific strategic result. Must have strong analytical skills to develop, measure and improve operational, financial, quality and cycle time performance indicators.
  • Successful track record in working with and through internal and external strategic partners to drive operational improvement and reduce both cycle time and cost.
  • Familiarity with contemporary ERP systems and how to use the information generated to drive performance.
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Executive presence and acumen required to promote our mission, business and strategy, internally and externally.
  • Highly effective relationship-building and influencing skills.
  • Proven industry best practices with proof of build capability.
  • Driven, hands-on and willing to roll-up sleeves as required in a lean, fast-paced and focused organization.
  • Self-starter, willing to make prudent, risk-based decisions and take ownership and accountability.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree.
