Luxury Design House is hiring a Footwear Associate Designer/Design Coordinator! Incredible opportunity to have high visibility and learn from a very talented Sr. Designer.

You will collaborate with the design & development team on seasonal collections from concept through top of line production samples. A successful candidate will be able to prioritize and complete tasks independently, have excellent attention to detail, a strong sense of urgency, and will ensure that our processes are organized and administered effectively. 
  • Approximate Salary: $65-75k
  • Requires 2-3 years Footwear Designer experience (ability to sketch, CAD, Tech packs, required)
  • Based in NYC
  • 5 Days/week in office - working hours 9am-6pm
  • Reports into Director of Leather Goods and works closely under Sr. Design Consultant
  • Supports Sr. Design Consultant with sketches, CADS, presentation decks, tech packs, communicate fit notes to Licensor/Factory, etc
  • Manufacturing done in Europe

Primary Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on silhouettes, techniques, materializations, and trends based on direction from designer
  • Create and maintain design decks and presentation boards throughout the development for all seasons
  • Create and update, CADs, and tech packs
  • Attend all fittings, actively participating in the process with the designer. This includes, taking photos, creating mock ups, pulling references, and detailing fit comments.
  • Prepare detailed, technical correction comments to send to the factory at each sample stage.
  • Manage material approvals from 1st proto through TOP stages
  • Responsible for sample & material organization which includes receiving and sending packages, photographing samples & design details, filing material submits and approvals, maintaining materials library etc.
  • Manage line sheet and design intent creation each season.
  • Maintain sample closet, ensuring samples are stored & shipped properly
  • Key role in runway/lookbook preparation; including but not limited to packing/unpacking of samples, maintaining showroom organization, creating accessories board for “looks” allocations, assist with sample fixes and alterations, dresser backstage at runway show etc.
  • Travel when needed to work directly with the factories on development and production

Desired Skills and Experience Requirements:
  • 2+ years work experience in footwear design and development
  • Knowledge of construction, fit and technical components for footwear
  • Experience working directly with factories in Europe virtually and in person
  • Proficiency in Adobe inDesign, Adobe Photoshop & Microsoft Excel
  • Flexibility to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work collaboratively as a team player within the department and cross functional teams
  • Self-starter personality; driven by deadlines with a high sense of urgency
  • Willingness to learn and take direction
