Solutions Architect – London or Manchester - Hybrid (3 days per week in office)

As a Solution Architect you will be part of an industry award-winning, forward thinking, cross functional technology team. You will take ownership in delivering technology, system design, methodologies and standards and work closely with relevant departments to develop and support the business.
This will mean that you are delivering scalable, timely and effective IT solutions meeting business requirements, deadlines and adhering to industry and technical standards.
You will work alongside other Architects, Principal Software Engineer, business analysts, UX designs and developer teams delivering incremental releases that generate business value.

Role and Responsibilities
- Perform detailed analysis and design activities striving to improve technical architecture and business processes
- Design high performance generic infrastructure for all major developments and to ensure that duplication of effort is minimised
- Drive improvements to coding and architecture standards to ensure they are kept in line with current development methodologies and industry standards
- Collaborate closely with Technical Leads and Principal Software Developers to ensure that implementations are in line with the architectural guidance
- Collaborate with Technical Services to ensure that the hardware requirements are appropriate
- Monitor and review the development and design undertaken by the department to ensure it is compliant to standards
- Ensure the system is appropriately documented and to review and provide guidance on documentation
- Define non-functional requirements (NFRs) for systems and applications.
- Proactively look at upcoming technologies and evaluate how they could benefit the business and present the findings to the appropriate people
- Plan the effective adoption of new technologies, standards and frameworks within the department
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrable experience (ideally 5 years+) working as a Solution Architect using a range of different technologies (ideally including Java/Spring, .NET, JavaScript, micro services, containers, databases, cloud technologies)
- Demonstrable expertise in the use of appropriate tools/technologies for the design, development, build, testing & deployment of a wide range of applications
- Confident communicator - able to present complex technical issues in a clear manner to technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrable experience of designing solutions for a fast-paced, high impacting, Agile digital delivery environment
