1st Shift Production Supervisor - Plating*

Are you a successful supervisor with a metal plating background? 

 

This is a “hands on” position, where a significant part of your time will be spent working with operators on the line to make certain the tanks are plating to the requirements. This will include doing adds, tests, panels, adjustments, tank dumps and clean, etc.
 

Job Description / Purpose:

• Manage and execute daily operations of the plating facility.
• Ensure team members are working in a safe and efficient manner to meet company’s goals.
• Perform daily general supervision of plating staff, including training and evaluating.
• Ensure facility compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
• Ensure the plating facility delivers services that meet or exceed the company’s, customers’ quality at expected cost.
• Work to resolve defects using Lean problem-solving methodologies.

 

Responsibilities:

• Comply with all legal and statutory requirements. Maintain knowledge of EPA regulations and facilities safety and security procedures.
• Maintain equipment and facility to ensure line operational availability, including plating, ventilation, wastewater treatment, lab and safety equipment.
• Establish operating procedures for the complete plating process, from receiving incoming parts through the preparation, plating, and post operations.  Develop process sheets to control the flow of products through the department.
• Optimize plating efficiencies through improved processes and procedures.
• Keep appropriate managers informed of any problems that can, or will, impact scheduled runs, quality, cost or customer relations.
• Develop and implement test processes and equipment.
• Diagnose plating problems.
• Document and apply chemical, electrical, and physical plating methods and procedures that provide optimum efficiency for product plating process.
• Develop chemical and physical test procedures required to ensure product quality.
• Prepare test solutions and conduct research to develop new processes.
• Assist in evaluating chemical suppliers and order quantities when composing purchase orders.
• Ensure there is safe storage of materials and chemicals in appropriate places.
• Responsible for testing all tanks on the production line so that the plating processes continue uninterrupted.

• Develop processes and procedures to plate parts effectively and efficiently, while, maintaining strict quality standards
• Hire, train and supervise personnel to support plating operations.
• Assist all departments, managers, supervisors and other employees in activities to improve on time delivery, top quality and reduce cost.
• Operate all plating and auxiliary equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Ensure plating and auxiliary equipment is properly maintained. Perform preventative maintenance as required by each manufacturer.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.   
• 5 to 10 years' experience in a plating environment
• 3 to 5 years' experience of leadership/supervisory experience preferred.
• Highly motivated, self-driven, strong problem solving/analytical competency.
• Working knowledge of manual plating lines specifically Silver- Nickel- Chrome
• Advanced understanding of plating principles
• Working knowledge of adding chemicals to plating baths

1st shift (6:15 am- 2:45 pm) 45-50 hours a week expected with Saturdays as needed.
