Senior Investigator (Coordinator)

One of our DC Government partners is looking for an experienced Senior Investigator to join their Labor & Employee Relations work group to assist with complex investigations of employees, contractors, and other internal contacts. These investigations will be administrative in nature but could have criminal implications as well. This role will interview and start ASAP and continue at least through September. Ideal pay is around $40/hour!

Duties:

  • Performs initial review and assessment of incident reports detailing allegations of employee misconduct; works with supervisor in determining which cases require official investigation; and assigns cases to investigators.
  • Conducts complex and sensitive investigations by interviewing complainants, witnesses, and subjects to obtain statements associated with employee misconduct allegations against employees, volunteers, and contractors; and supports less experienced investigators in investigation process.
  • Prepares appropriate investigative reports that will be used in employee disciplinary hearings and assists in suitability assessments for continuous employment or services; and reviews investigative reports of more junior investigators.
  • Serve as investigations representative on joint investigations with the Office of the General Counsel, Labor Management& Employee Relations, and other offices on multi -divisional issues.
  • Liaises with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies during administrative investigations that have criminal implications.
  • Testifies in hearings and court proceedings when applicable; and assists with background investigations to determine eligibility of current and future employees, contractors, and volunteers to interact with students in accordance with federal and local regulations.
  • Maintains good relations with personnel and the local community police during the investigative process.
  • Oversees daily operations for the Investigations team in the absence of the Manager, Investigations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and two to four years of related work experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in the education sector or in conducting interviews of young children a plus.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, criminal rules of evidence, constitutional rights, search and seizure procedures, arrest authority, courts, administrative procedures, and Directives.
