CONTRACT Forensic Consultant

Our client, a boutique and hip-cultured eDiscovery and forensic vendor, is seeking a CONTRACT Forensics Consultant for their New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Chicago office. The Forensic Consultant will be responsible for data assessments/data mapping, onsite and in-lab data collections/imaging, forensic examination tasks, mentoring of junior members of the group, and forensic lab maintenance. Proficiency with forensic techniques and the most commonly used forensic toolsets such as EnCase, FTK Suite, Cellebrite, CAINE/PALADIN/HELIX is required. EnCE or ACE designation, or equivalent digital forensic certification is desired but not required. This position involves some travel to client-site or forensic lab as needed. Experienced professionals and up-and-comers alike will be considered for this role.

The responsibilities of the Forensic Consultant position include, but are not limited to: 

• Data assessments/data mapping
• Onsite and in-lab data collections/imaging
• Forensic examination tasks
• Mentoring of junior members of the group
• Forensic lab maintenance

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

• Preserve and analyze data from electronic data sources, including laptop and desktop computers, servers, and mobile devices
• Produce high-quality oral and written work products presenting complex technical matters clearly and concisely
• Form and articulate expert opinions based on analysis
• Provide expert testimony in depositions, trials, and other proceedings
• Consult with and take direction from supervisors, engagement managers, and clients regarding case investigation and status
• Maintain proficiency with industry-standard tools and practices
• Maintain a high level of professionalism in all areas of performance
• Develop and broaden forensic skill set through outside training and research
• Mentor junior members of the group
• Some travel required to client-site or forensic lab as needed

Minimum Requirements:

• Proficiency with forensic techniques and the most commonly used forensic toolsets such as EnCase, FTK Suite, Cellebrite, CAINE/PALADIN/HELIX

Preferred Skills:

• It is desired that the candidate has EnCE or ACE designation, or equivalent digital forensic certification
