eDiscovery Analyst

Our client, a leading global law firm, is seeking a skilled eDiscovery Analyst to join their bustling team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide technical support to the firm's clients and case teams, as well as run smaller projects independently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Relativity or another eDiscovery database, with experience in loading data, running productions, and conducting searches, and generally strong knowledge of the EDRM end-to-end. This is a dynamic position that requires a wide breadth of skills and the ability to hit the ground running. With the flexibility to work three days a week in-office in either Boston, Washington D.C., Chicago, or New York, this non-exempt role (with strong overtime opportunities) is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for an opportunity to grow their career in a meaningful environment.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Manager of Legal Technology, the eDiscovery Analyst is responsible for all intermediate processes handled by the Legal Technology Department.  This position will work independently, on small to medium sized matters, assist senior team members on large/complex matters, and delegate tasks to the junior members of the team as they support the firm's clients and case teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Consults with case teams and senior legal technology team members to assess and support technology needs, and acts as junior project manager throughout all stages of the litigation process
  • Responsible for the hands-on technical support for litigation workflow tasks such as database creation and maintenance
  • Oversees data loading, formatting and delivery by junior team members
  • Performs processes to normalize, mass edit or deduplicate data; overlays existing records in workspace; designs coding layouts, creates fields, and advises case team on database design; runs search term reports and prepares electronic documents for case team’s review; exports or produces records in a format that meets the project requested delivery specifications
  • Works with senior legal technology professionals to manage vendors, assuring deliverables meet requested specifications, and are delivered on schedule and on budget; oversees data acquisition and delivery to vendors
  • Works with senior legal technology professionals to review details on a matter in order to provide case team with optimal technology solutions, such as the use of analytics; troubleshoots and recommends technical solutions to case team issues
  • Utilizes Relativity, Brainspace, Microsoft Access, Excel, Adobe, Case Notebook, Outlook, Sanction, vendor repositories, and editing and conversion tools
  • Performs Quality Control measures on all processes to ensure incoming and outgoing data files meet project-specific and industry standards
  • Maintains chain of custody tracking spreadsheets for data received and loaded for each project
  • Communicates, corresponds and interacts with clients and outside entities under supervision of attorneys and senior legal technology professionals
  • Provides one-on-one or case team training and teaches fundamental litigation technology classes in attorney and staff training programs; serves as a mentor to and provides leadership and training for Legal Technology Specialists
  • Complies with department and firm administrative procedures and policies
  • Assists with firm and department projects as needed and performs other work-related duties as assigned
  • Responsible for working on client, firm and department related projects for 1600 hours per year with a minimum of 1500 hours being billed to client-related work

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and some litigation technology support experience
  • Requires working knowledge of the litigation process and a strong understanding of the use of technology to support litigation efforts, specifically eDiscovery
  • The position will involve significant contact with lawyers and paralegals and require strong interpersonal, communication, project management and technology skills
  • The candidate must be a self-starter, highly organized and a team player
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, XML, SQL or other programming a plus
