eDiscovery Attorney

Our client, a leading law firm, is in search of an eDiscovery Attorney to help establish standards firmwide for eDiscovery teams, as well as execute on complex privilege calls and other legal protocols related to eDiscovery. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise to communicate effectively with attorneys of all levels, draft ESI protocols and litigation holds, oversee vendor relationships, and play a pivotal role in the team’s transition to RelativityOne this year. This role involves working independently as well as collaborating with a team of professionals. Candidates must be a licensed attorney in the state in which they reside. This is a hybrid role that must be able to come into the office occasionally in one of the following metro areas: Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Detroit, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, DC, Denver, or Phoenix.

Duties:
Consulting:
  • Promotes Firm's Discovery resources and capabilities to Firm attorneys and staff through training and cultivating relationships
  • Provides recommendations to the case teams and clients on discovery process improvements and opportunities to leverage advanced technologies for spend and risk reductions
  • Provides training on the technical and practical knowledge of RelativityOne and best practices
Document Preservation & Collection:
  • Advises case teams on document preservation and collection obligations and strategies in accordance with Firm and industry best practices
  • Drafts Litigation Hold Notices
  • Conducts document collection scoping interviews with clients
  • Interfaces with vendors and client IT departments to facilitate document collections
  • Collaborates with Firm's Discovery Analysts on data collection, processing, and ingestion into Relativity
Searching & Culling:
  • Develops and advises case teams on strategies for culling collected data for review in accordance with Firm and industry best practices
  • Crafts, revises, and tests search terms for data culling and/or for document review
Document Review & Case Development:
  • Advises case teams on conducting and implementing efficient and effective document reviews in accordance with Firm and industry best practices
  • Sets up and implements QC searches and protocols
  • Trains and supervises contract attorney review teams
Document Production:
  • Advises case teams on document production options and best practices
  • Collaborates with Firm's Discovery Analysts on production specifications
  • QCs document productions
Industry Expertise:
  • Stays current on the development and evolution of case law, local rules, and best practices related to eDiscovery
Requirements:
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctorate degree required
Experience:
  • Some experience as a dedicated eDiscovery Attorney not limited to document review
  • Knowledge of and experience with eDiscovery Best Practices and industry trends including the Sedona Conference, EDRM, case law, and local court practices
  • Proficiency with RelativityOne
  • Successful management of multiple, high-priority, complex matters simultaneously

Certificates & Licenses:
  • Active law license
Expected salary for this exempt role is $150,000 - $200,000, commensurate with experience, training, skills, qualifications, and other market factors.
